SSND Participates in Baltimore Women’s
History Month Event

Baltimore Women's History MonthBaltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon tapped S. Charmaine Krohe, SSND, to participate in the City’s month-long celebration of Women’s History Month.  The theme for National Women’s History Month this year is Women’s Art: Women’s Vision, in celebration of the extraordinary accomplishments of women in the arts.

“Baltimore has been blessed when it comes to women in the arts,” Mayor Dixon said. “But like the contributions of African Americans, the contributions of women have long been overlooked, ignored and claimed by others.”

S. Charmaine participated in a session of the “Red Bag Speakers Series” entitled “Women in the Ministry.”  She sat on a panel with Rev. Dr. Ann Lightner Fuller, Pastor of Mt. Calvary AME Church in Baltimore, and Rabbi Elizabeth Bolton of Congregation Beit Tikvah in Roland Park.  S. Charmaine said she felt honored to be asked by Mayor Dixon to participate in the Series.

“There are many great women doing wonderful things in Baltimore,” she said, “and to have been asked to participate in this event provided me with the opportunity to share with others the beauty of being called to serve through Religious life, and the impact that this call, the Church and our faith can have in the transformation of the world.”

S. Charmaine also noted the diversity of the event, saying that she “felt privileged to be on a panel with two great women—a Pastor and a Rabbi.”
