Loyola Recognizes SSND Associate

Each year, Loyola's Blue & Gold Auction gives us the opportunity to celebrate who we are. In this series of profiles leading up to the 2008 Blue & Gold Auction on March 15, 2008, we will feature members of the Loyola community whose perspectives help create a rich tableau of the excellence, the caring, the diversity, and the traditions of Blakefield.

“My husband, Patrick, went to Loyola and it was a dream come true to have our sons go there, as well. There were so many wonderful experiences, like the football sideline excitement and chatter that created lifelong friendships, or Turkey Bowl Morning where Coach Brune, as a Eucharistic Minister, would give the Host to his players.

“Kevin, our youngest, was not an athlete. Because of Loyola, he excelled in musical theater and had a wonderful time, playing Jesus Christ in Godspell and Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. All the boys were embraced and loved at Loyola.

“My middle son, Peter, said that Brother Paul in Murray Services, was always affirming, present and loving to kids who needed more attention in their studies. He knew so much about so many things!

“An Indian woman named Nargis Bunce taught chemistry to my oldest, Patrick. She was an outstanding role model as a woman of color, who wore her traditional dress, and who was brilliant!

“The Mothers’ Club gave me so many wonderful memories. We spent hours laughing and screaming.

"Finally, my husband is a fanatic about Loyola! He goes to most of the football games. We are lucky to have 40-year-old friendships with the boys he went to school with. We still see them at least twice a year!"
