One of the questions you may be asking yourself is: How do I know if I am being called to be a Sister? The answer is: Slowly. Discovering one’s call is a gradual process. Maybe it starts as a gentle tugging at your heart. Maybe you want to do more with your life. Maybe you have a desire for a deeper relationship with God. These thoughts are God’s invitation to look at your life choices.

The process of making a decision about your life with a willingness to be totally open to God is called discernment. However, do not think that discernment is a smooth, straight path which leads you to make a logical, analytical decision. Rather, think of it as aspiral, a deepening of who God is for you and who you are before God. As you prayerfully open yourself to God, you begin to have a sense of how God is moving you and drawing you to make choices. Discernment also means getting in touch with yourself, your experiences, your feelings. That takes attentive listening to what is happening within your every day life. As you reflect, journal, talk with others and listen to what your life speaks to you, you will become aware of your heart’s deepest desires.

So if the thought of being a sister tugs at your heart and won’t go away, we encourage you to explore the possibility of what religious life would mean for you. Contact a member  of our vocation team. Doing that does not mean making a commitment. It means exploring your choices. With faith, risk starting the journey. God will be with you every step of the way! And we will walk with you!
