The Institute of Notre Dame, founded in 1847 by Blessed Theresa of Jesus Gerhardinger, SSND, is owned and operated by the Atlantic-Midwest Province of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. Collaboratively staffed by lay and religious personnel, the Institute of Notre Dame maintains a tradition of educational excellence as a Catholic, college preparatory school for young women.
Its mission is the education of culturally diverse students from the greater Baltimore metropolitan area. Rooted in a strong foundation of Catholic Christian values, IND is a community of lifelong learners, committed to the education of the whole person, enabling its students to become women of discernment and active leaders in a rapidly changing world.
