S. Agnes Zierkiewicz’s surprise birthday celebration
St. Alphonsus Liguori Parish
Mount Prospect, Illinois

On Thursday, April 3, 2008 our parish school celebrated a very special day with a very special friend of the Saint Alphonsus community. Sister Agnes Zierkiewicz, SSND marked her 95th birthday, and the school surprised her with a luncheon and a short assembly for students who sang out their joyful birthday wishes. The luncheon with the faculty allowed Sister to catch up with her colleagues. After lunch, the entire student body gathered in the gym to present cards and greetings to Sister, and to receive a candy birthday treat. Sister Agnes taught here for well over twenty years, and was working with children as a volunteer as recently as four years ago. When Sister Agnes left St. Al’s, the Sister Agnes Zierkiewicz Scholarship Fund was established in her honor to provide scholarship assistance to school families who might not otherwise be able to provide their children with a Catholic school education. We all wish Sister Agnes many blessings on this special milestone!
