"I set my rainbow in the sky to serve as a covenant
between me and you." (Gen. 10:13)
Recovenanting Ceremony,
November 10, 2006
Mission Church
On Nov. 11, Teresa Walsh and Carole Martin had planned to renew their covenant as SSND Associates. Due to Carole's illness, she fully
participated in her recovenanting
from the hospital
on Nov. 10 in the presence of Sister Elizabeth Kelly
and Sister Eileen McCarthy.
In the rectory chapel of Mission Church, Teresa, accompanied by the presence of local SSNDs, her mother, her friends, and some of the CSsR
priests
of the parish celebrated her 10th anniversary as an SSND Associate.
Sister Elizabeth opened the service with a warm
welcome to all present, a brief explanation of the Associate program, an invitation for all to seek
additional information, and the "Call to Worship."
After the opening prayer, led by Sister Diane McHugh, a reading from the
words of Sister M. Margaret Johanning, read by Teresa, and the Intercessions
read by Sister Theresa Prior, a reflection was given by Sister Eileen McCarthy
based on the relationship between God and us. If we, like the mythical
Noah, may sometimes display our human faults, God will still be our God.
And when we rely on the spiritual support systems of our life and
vocation we will always be able to experience our rainbow. After signing her recovenanting paper, Teresa was blessed by all present in the words of Blessed M. Theresa of Jesus.
All were then invited to participate in a reception and lunch at the parish center where materials were also available for all who may be interested in the SSND Associate Program.
