Find a Sister

Who can be an Associate?

Any baptized woman or man, 21 years of age or older, can be an Associate. All you need is the desire to share with SSNDs in faith, prayer and spiritual growth. There is a preparation time, during which the prospective associate can become acquainted with the School Sisters of Notre Dame, and with the SSND heritage, mission and spirituality.

Although Associates do not take religious vows or live in community, they are committed to deepening their baptismal covenant with Christ.

Through this special relationship, associates and sisters together continue Christ's mission, respond to changing needs of the Church, and strive to live the charism, values, and ideals of SSND foundress, Blessed Theresa.

What does the word Charism mean?

Charism is a gift freely given by God to a person or community, for the good and service of others in bringing about the Kingdom of God.

Religious communities seek to live the charism which is received through their founders as God's gift to the Church.
