Socks for Soldiers Benefits Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon & BB Haiti

At Holy Angels, raising funds for Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, Inc. and Beyond Borders was as simple as pulling on a pair of socks: "crazy socks," to be exact. Angels for Veterans and the Academy's basketball teams developed and co-hosted this month's Socks for Soldiers event. Students donated $2 apiece for the chance to wear non-uniform socks for a day.

AHA Volunteers Help Make ‘Lamp for Haiti’ Gala a Success

Julia Swearer realized the 15th Annual Lamp for Haiti Gala would need volunteers and took the lead by recruiting friends from the Academy of the Holy Angels. The gala, which also included a silent auction, raised a total of $100,000 for Lamp for Haiti. This organization is a non-profit, non-sectarian, apolitical group that provides health care and humanitarian aid to the people of Haiti (Source: lampforhaiti.org).

Angel Showcase Day Was Active, Engaging AHA Experience

Nearly 160 eighth-grade applicants to AHA eagerly participated in Angel Showcase Day on November 4. The Admissions Team organized the event so future ninth-graders could spend a day exploring their individual interests at the Academy.

AHA Remembers Sister Genevieve Marie Kelleher, SSND

In 2017, an AHA renovated the convent building was renamed Sister Genevieve Kelleher Hall. S. Genevieve was the guest of honor at the dedication of Kelleher Hall which "stands as a lasting legacy to S. Genevieve’s service to Holy Angels.” The building named in S. Genevieve’s honor was once her home, “My bedroom was on the second floor, overlooking the lake” S. Genevieve recalled at the 2017 dedication.

AITA Clothing Drive to Benefit AHA's Fine & Performing Artists

Straighten up your closets and bring your new or used wearable items to the Angels in the Arts Clothing Drive at the Academy of the Holy Angels, Sunday, November 14, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Items may also be dropped off November 12th, and November 13th.

AHA Teens Sending Relief to COVID-19 Patients in India

Natasha Dhanrajani leaped into action when she realized she could bring relief to COVID-19 patients in India. The Academy of the Holy Angels junior contacted three friends and established a GoFundMe page to raise money for the purchase of oxygen concentrators.

Sister Catherine Green Kindness Award - 2021 Honorees

AHA students Hailey Filera, Hannah Kim, Gianna Rodriguez, and Kristina Migliaccio have received the Sister Catherine Green Kindness Award. This award provides recognition for each recipient and recalls S. Catherine, a School Sister of Notre Dame who taught religious studies at AHA from 1982 to 2014.

AHA Students Receive Honors at Harvard Model UN: Virtual Edition

Patricia “Patsy” Coleman and Marie Howard distinguished themselves by earning Diplomatic Commendations at this year’s virtual Harvard Model United Nations Conference. These members of the Class of 2022 represented Mali with most of their teammates from the Academy of the Holy Angels.

Alice Paul Chapter of the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society

Thirty-nine members of the Academy of the Holy Angels Class of 2021 have been inducted into the Alice Paul Chapter of the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. Rho Kappa refers to head and hand, a reminder that knowledge must be accompanied by service. In fact, inductees must demonstrate excellence in social studies and a commitment to serving others.
