In Memoriam

Help us remember our Sisters by sharing a story about a Sister who touched your life, or making a gift in their honor.

Jane Joyce was born in Chicago on March 5, 1927 to Patrick Joyce and Bridget Heneghan. She and her twin Margaret Therese were the seventh and eighth of ten children. She was baptized at St. Benedict Church. Her autobiography gives a good taste of what her childhood was like:

The first of nine children, Mary Noreen, was born to Robert and Agnes Forestell Brown at St. Joseph Hospital, Baltimore, on September 28, 1918. Baby Noreen was baptized two weeks later at Blessed Sacrament Church.

Sister Michael Mary Kean

Sister Michael Mary Kean, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, died on May 9, 2017, at Lourdes Health Care Center in Wilton, Connecticut. She was

77 years old and had been a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame for 58 years.

In death, we say our ultimate human yes to God. Trusting in God’s power to bring us to the fullness of life, we conclude our earthly life with an act of worship: in the action of death we proclaim God as God, and ourselves as God’s creatures. We are called by God and sent by the community; we go in joy!
