SSND Mission and Heritage

The School Sisters of Notre Dame are members of an international congregation of women religious which was founded in Bavaria in 1833. The first sisters arrived in North America in 1847. School Sisters of Notre Dame, now living and ministering on five continents, have their Generalate in Rome, Italy, and continue to “share in Christ’s mission to proclaim the good news of God’s reign.”

On March 7-8, SSND partners in ministry from SSND Atlantic-Midwest Province sponsored and co-sponsored ministries and SSND departments gathered for a session of the AM Province’s Ministry Formation program.

Recently, another Ministry Formation Session was held in-person at Villa Assumpta in Baltimore, Maryland. We had a total of seven participants which included leaders from the Academy of the Holy Angels, Notre Dame Preparatory School, Corazón a Corazón, the Atlantic-Midwest SSND  Justice, Peace...
