Please register for the upcoming event, The True Cost: Stories of Human Trafficking, on May 22, 2021 from 1:00 - 3:00pm CT. This virtual performance “gives voice to the forgotten ones: the people who are forced into sexual servitude; the children who are exploited for slave labor; the adults who are lured into domestic labor that turns out to be entrapment.” Following the production, there will be a post-show panel discussion with local experts and activists.

This event is free and sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa Anti-trafficking Committee of Madison, WI.

Dismantling Racism

The late Congressman John Lewis shed his blood crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge to fight for Black voters and voters of color to participate in America’s electoral process and the enactment of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

Today, voting rights are still under attack by laws that disproportionately impact the poor, elderly, and communities of color.

On Saturday, May 8, people around the United States will participate in the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Day of Action to urge lawmakers to support legislation that preserves and protects the ability of all citizens to participate in our electoral process. Click here to learn about events in your area. We invite you to let your voice be heard by making use of Voter Voice e-advocacy tool to urge passage of the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. In addition, you may want to show support for D.C. Statehood and urge the Senate to address one of the greatest obstacles to the passage of civil and voting rights – the filibuster.

As it says in our International Shalom Document, "School Sisters of Notre Dame will raise our consciousness and that of those with whom we minister by announcing justice, denouncing injustice, strengthening just structures, and changing unjust structures." Join us in working for the protection of democracy, civil rights, and voter protections for all. Click here to lift your Voter Voice!
