Elimination of Violence against Women

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, observed on November 25, calls global attention to ending violence and exploitation of women and girls — including Human trafficking. Worldwide, around 61 % of detected trafficking victims in 2022 were women and girls. (United Nations)  Of those trafficked for sexual exploitation, women make up about 64%, and girls about 27 %. (UN Women) In exploitation cases, more than 25 % of female victims reported sexual violence during the trafficking process—far higher than for males. (PubMedCentral)

What you can do:

Learn and share accurate data — knowing the numbers helps you speak up more effectively.
Support local or national organizations working to assist survivors of violence and trafficking.
Advocate for policy changes — e.g., better protections for victims, stronger enforcement, funding for services.
Awareness plus action can bring us closer to a world where women and girls live free from violence and exploitation.
