Season of Creation – An Expression of SSND’s Call

During the Season of Creation, SSND is publicly highlighting the various and creative ways the congregation is living out our Laudato Si commitment through the sharing of photos on the SSND International website, www.gerhardinger.org. Each week, there will be a focus on a different branch of Shalom. This week we highlight the branch of Europe. Click here for their written branch update

The Code Revisited

Do you remember learning about “The Code” as it relates to human trafficking?  In the early 2010s, the Code represented a movement to educate personnel in the tourism industry about the signs of human trafficking.  There was an effort, especially for hotel employees, to be trained to recognize and respond to behaviors typically displayed by victims of human traffickers.   We thought the message had been received.

However, as demonstrated in this summer’s case in Georgia, unfortunately, not every hotel chain has received the message.

When you or your family choose a hotel, ask the management if they have committed to the Code.  Your question could help a potential victim of human trafficking.  Submitted by the End Human Trafficking Committee

Upcoming Days for Migrants and Refugees

The USCCB, in partnership with several organizations, developed a Free Faith-Based Toolkit for use in planning a Catholic vigil for migrants, or for community prayer, etc. This is timely for National Migration Week (September 22-28, 2025) or for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (October 4-5, 2025).
