Our provincial elections, scheduled to take place this week in Chicago, have been postponed due to concerns about the Sisters traveling, after the CDC suggested that persons older than 70 stay close to home until the virus has been contained. More information will be forthcoming as the situation develops. Please pray for the good health of all in the province and all those affected by the virus.
Raise Up Your Prayers for Our Election Assembly
The 2016-2020 provincial council for the Atlantic-Midwest Province will be completing their term July 11, 2020. Our province has been in discernment and readying itself for an election of a new provincial council. This will take place from March 10-14, 2020 in Chicago. The Sisters of our Province will celebrate the installation of the Council-elect at Villa Assumpta on July 11, 2020. Until then, the current council will continue until the installation day of the Council-elect. The results of the election are only shared once our sisters have been informed first and the General Council officially sends out an announcement from Rome.
The theme of our Election Assembly is Trusting and Daring in Transformative Times. The province has been in prayer, asking God to lead and guide us as we discern our next leadership for 2020-2024. You are invited to join us in prayer next week beginning the evening of March 9-March 14 by praying with us the prayer below:
Gracious God, be with us in this time of major transition in the world and in religious life.
We commit ourselves to embrace the call to trust and dare in these transformative times.
Fill us with your sacred energy during our province-wide discernment and our Election Assembly.
May your Spirit guide us in all the decisions we face.
May our choices lead to blessings on our community life and mission for the future.
Amen.
Please pray that our sisters remain healthy and travel safely (travel days March 9 and March 15) to their destination and back. May Theresa and Caroline be with us and guide us.
