Esther O., NDMU-Class of 2028

Esther O., Notre Dame of Maryland University, Liberal Arts, Pharmacy 2+4, Class of 2028

My biggest concern about our climate is the abundance of carbon in our atmosphere that comes from CO2 emissions and herding cattle. I try to carpool, take public transportation, and eat less meat. My interest in climate issues actually stemmed from taking AP Environmental Science in high school. Of course, I had previous knowledge about climate change and the effect it had on our planet, but taking a class for a whole year, solely focusing on the problems of our climate, opened my eyes to the reality of the state of the planet. As a Christian, I was taught to appreciate God’s creation, and I also think my awareness of the climate issues came from being more educated on what was exactly happening to the Earth.
