Exploring Laudato Si

Shalom North America is hosting a reading and discussion of Pope Francis’s “Laudato Si,’ On Care for Our Common Home,” during Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. I am looking forward to reading Laudato Si’ again with a faith community. I find that when you do something you haven’t done for a while, the life experience and wisdom that you’ve gained in the interim allow you to see the familiar thing in a new light.

It’s a great time to visit or revisit this encyclical that the congregation has committed to, and to do so at the halfway point of AM’s Laudato Si’ Action Platform (LSAP) journey.

Whether you have never read Laudato Si’ or you have read it multiple times during its 10-year existence, your perspective will enhance our understanding of the interconnectedness of all earth’s communities and our societal institutions, our understanding of social sin, and the hope we choose for the future.

Read a chapter of Laudato Si’ on your own and gather virtually for prayer and discussion in listening circles. Six sequential sessions are offered on Mondays at your choice of 2:00 or 7:00 pm ET (1:00 and 6:00 pm CT) on March 2, 16, 30, April 13, 27, and May 11. You do not need to attend all sessions to participate. We will discuss Chapter 1 on March 2nd, so please register here soon.

This is open to Sisters, Associates, ministry partners, and friends. Consider extending a personal invitation to a family member, parishioner, co-worker, or friend. Broadening our circle will enrich our discussions! If you have any questions, email nashalom@ssndcp.org

Laudato Si’ is a manageable read. An online copy is available here.
