As we navigate through this global health crisis, the Immigration Committee invites you to consider the health crisis in the U.S. with our immigrant neighbors in mind. Biodiversity and COVID-19
Pope Francis teaches in Laudato Si’ that all life is interconnected. The COVID-19 pandemic is making that all too clear. Scientists are concerned for the “hidden cost of human economic development,” which increases human vulnerability to interspecies-transmission of pathogens due to our disruption of ecosystems. Many are now realizing that we need an approach to public health that includes consideration of human health in the context of environmental health—“planetary health” as the new field is termed.
