Immigration
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has proposed a new fee schedule, which will increase fees for adjustment of status, asylum, DACA renewals and naturalization by as much as 83%. It will also slash the availability of fee waivers. Past fee increases have had no effect on the efficiency of USCIS processing, and these fees will “place the burden of USCIS mismanagement on the backs of hardworking immigrants and their families” (CLINIC). In addition, the U.S. will become only the 4th country in the world to charge people fleeing persecution in their homeland to request asylum.
USCIS is accepting public comments on the proposed fee schedule, and CLINIC Legal has prepared a “click to comment” page and template. Please speak up on behalf of migrants and refugees! C
