I come from a big family. There were nine children and Grandmother lived with us, too. We all loved Christmas!
Grandma made delicious popcorn balls at Christmas. She hung them on the tree for us to eat.
Dad dressed as Santa Claus and took popcorn balls to all the children on the street.
One year, I received a big pencil box to hold my drawing pencils. I loved them so much, because I loved to make art even back then!
When I was a little older, we started going to Midnight Mass. There was a party afterwards in the school basement. It was a lot of fun.
Christmas, growing up, was a pure delight. I will remember it until I die.
Sister Florence, of Bayside, NY, has put her drawing pencils and paints to good use over the years! Below is one of her beautiful floral paintings!
