I remember the weeks before Christmas, when my siblings and I studied the Sears Wish Book to choose the gifts we wanted for Christmas.

We also visited the biggest store to sit on Santa’s knee and take pictures!

On Christmas Eve, Santa Claus (a neighbor who dressed up and played the part) gave us paint books and colours.

Christmas day began with the family reading the Bible before opening gifts. Later, we went to Mass.

My father worked very hard to make our Christmas beautiful.

If he had to work on Christmas day, we would visit our grandparents.

The last time we celebrated Christmas together, I wanted to empty my bank account to buy gifts for everyone. I asked Mother if that would be acceptable, and she happily agreed to it.

Sister Pat lives in Waterdown, Ontario.
