Solidarity Day at The Watermark Benefitted Ukraine Refugees

On March 25, the Sisters at The Watermark gathered for a Solidarity Day in honor of Ukraine. They prayed for the war-torn country during their weekly Communion Service and took up a collection for the province fund that is helping our Sisters in Europe feed, shelter, care for and teach incoming refugees.

Solidarity Day is an SSND tradition. Once a month, School Sisters around the globe gather in local groups to pray and take action on the most pressing social justice and peace issues. This SSND international network for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation is called Shalom. Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace and implies “restoring all things to their right order or original integrity.” The gathering begins with a prayer or presentation to raise awareness on a particular justice or solidarity issue, and then a collection is taken up for that month's cause.
