NDMU and Mount Mercy University (Milwaukee, WI) students have begun to benefit from an agreement to earn advanced credentials from their sister institution. Created to address a faculty shortage in the education and social work departments, the agreement was formalized by Notre Dame of Maryland University President Dr. Mary Lou Yam and Mount Mercy President Dr. Isabelle Cherney during a signing ceremony held in Baltimore, MD, Aug. 1, 2025.
Sister Charmaine Krohe, SSND, said the partnership between the two universities is more than a business partnership.
“Partnership is a spiritual exercise, a journey of faith," she said. "It involves a willingness to explore a call, befriend this unknown, accept the challenges, and trust that God is with us through it all. Both of our campuses are founded on the premise of the spirituality of the School Sisters of Notre Dame.”
