No one could have guessed
a stable
in an overcrowded town
would become a worldwide symbol
of God’s love.
Everyone was welcomed!
Mary and Joseph.
Poor shepherds.
Animals.
Wealthy kings.
All asked:
Who is this child?
Now thousands of years old
this story is so familiar.
Even comfortable.
But in the morning
When all is still dark
Sit alone and wonder.
Consider the humble stable.
Let God melt your heart
not with fear
but with love.
Ask, already knowing:
Who is this child?
