Everyone already knows what Advent means, but I want to emphasize two important words.
Waiting and Preparing.
When we are waiting for an event to happen we do not just wait, we prepare.
If I am waiting for a move, I clean out to prepare for the move.
Advent, too, is a time of preparing.
It is a time to clean out some old habits or some unfinished business.
It is a time to examine our lives to see what needs changing.
If Christ is coming to us in a special way on Christmas we need to be prepared.
