Twenty-five sisters and staff recently gathered at Villa Assumpta recently to label 3,000 bars of soap and 2,000 make-up remover wipes with the national human trafficking hotline number, to help combat sex slavery and recover missing persons in hotels.
The labeling project is part of SOAP (Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution), an organization founded by trafficking survivor Theresa Flores.
Theresa had been trafficked as a young girl. When she realized that a bar of soap could have discreetly linked her to help, she founded SOAP to help other victims.
Before the Villa Assumpta soap-wrapping began, Theresa spoke to the Sisters by Zoom about the human trafficking industry and the warning signs to watch for. Learn more about the SOAP Project.
