Sister Val grew up on a farm one mile south of Denzil, Saskatchewan. She went on to work in religious education in Ontario, Saskatchewan and ministered to Indigenous communities in Keewatin-Le Pas, Manitoba. Later, In 2000, she served as Provincial Councilor for the Canadian Province. We remember and give thanks for Sister Val's generous spirit among us.
Blessed with a great sense of humor and a love of people, Sister Celeste taught and was involved in pastoral ministry at several locations in Ontario. From 1983 to 1989 Sister Celeste lived on the Reserve of the Ojibway community at Grassy Narrows, ON. She was honoured with a white eagle feather and the Asubpeeschoseewagong name Megezeequ, Eagle Woman. We trust that Celeste is experiencing happiness in the brilliance of heaven.
Sister Margaret (Renate) endured many hardships as a child before becoming an SSND in 1948 in Munich. She lived and taught in England, Peru, Bolivia, and Canada. For years, Sister Margaret served as a translator for our congregation. She valued these experiences and the opportunity to go to Brazil, Ghana, and Hungary. Sister Margaret was generous with her language skills and assisting others, such as volunteering to assist migrants at the border in Texas. May Sister Margaret enjoy eternal happiness.
In death, we say our ultimate human yes to God. Trusting in God’s power to bring us to the fullness of life, we conclude our earthly life with an act of worship: in the action of death we proclaim God as God, and ourselves as God’s creatures. We are called by God and sent by the community; we go in joy!
