Several members of the Holy Angels community were invited to the Archdiocesan Mass for Catholic Schools Personnel, where they were honored for their long-term commitment to the Academy. Monsignor Thomas Nydegger, vicar general and moderator of curia for the archdiocese, celebrated this festive Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
Honorees included AHA Religious Studies Chairperson Carol Fay; physical education teacher and varsity coach Susan Liddy; and Plant Manager Robert Shanney, all of whom have logged 40 years at Holy Angels. Thirty-year honorees included social studies teacher Patrick Dunne, AHA English Department Chairperson Nancy Schneberger, and mathematics teacher Sheila Wroblewski. World Language Department Chair Samira Mady was recognized for 25 years of service; and Mission Integration Coordinator Joan Connelly, AHA Social Studies Department Chair Gail Fair, Principal Jean Miller (AHA ’83), and Attendance Secretary Eileen Musich were recognized for 20 years of service. Recent retiree Sister Carole Tabano, SSND, (AHA ’59) was acknowledged for her 58-year teaching career. S. Carole spent the last 30 years teaching all levels of Spanish at AHA.
“We are blessed at AHA to have such loyal and talented faculty who have served our students so well for many years,” said AHA President Melinda Hanlon.
Those who sang at Mass included AHA Director of Campus Ministry Kathleen Sylvester and honoree Carol Fay. Angel vocalists were Alexis Jacob of Tappan, New York; Nora Jacobi of West New York; Gabriella Callaghan of Nanuet, New York; Kayla Pringle of Suffern, New York; Nayoun Kim of Cresskill; Gabriella Borges of Demarest; and Juliana Dominguez of North Bergen. The singers were led by AHA Performing Arts Director Dan Mahoney.
