Call to Worship: Stella Maris Jubilee August 20, 2025

By Sister Mary Roy Weiss, SSND

Love Gives Everything!

This call to worship is a call to be detectives—we will detect God’s love in the readings, prayers and songs during our liturgy.

We will especially relish what we discover: how God’s love and goodness has been and is present, to our celebrating Sister Jubilarians (Marg, Mary Paulette, Maria Felipe, Mary Therese, and Marie), and to all of us assembled here.

What will become apparent to any liturgical detectives is that the word “love” appears many times!

For example,
--from our opening song, we hear “I will celebrate your love forever,”
--in our first reading from Micah, “love tenderly,”
--in our Gospel, “love one another as I have loved you.”

That, indeed, is what our Sister Jubilarians have done as School Sisters of Notre Dame are sent to do, as our vows state, “To proclaim your love through my life.”

So Mother Theresa’s blessing to us is appropriate to hear once again: “May God the Holy Spirit preserve you in love and grace.”

God’s love is a many-splendored thing, to paraphrase the lyrics of that popular song.

“Love is God’s way of giving a reason to be living” and “God’s fingers touched your silent heart and taught it how to sing.”

So together, we sing “It is good to sing praises to God”—for all of our living Jubilarians, and for all of our deceased members of the 2025 Jubilarian classes, we present flowers in their memory.

Let us give Glory to God because Love Gives Everything!
