A Childhood Christmas Memory

When Sister Marlene Panko visits me at Mercy Circle in Chicago, she usually brings her little Shih Tzu, Brandi. I love her Santa hat!

Sister Marlene asked me to share a Christmas memory.

My childhood Christmas usually included a special dinner and activities with my mother's family.

The adults played cards and the children played, too, as we watched TV.

My favorite memory happened on the drive home from dinner, though.

The five of us kids piled into the backseat of our parents' car.

Our parents sang Christmas carols all the way home for us.

It was a kind of family intimacy that was very special.
