Christmas on the Farm

Christmas on Sister Harriet's Canadian family farm included a visit from her aunt's family for a dinner of turkey, chicken, and fruit cake.

Her stocking was hung in the kitchen, where it was filled with oranges and nuts.

Sister Harriet's family used to light actual candles on their Christmas tree, following German tradition. On Christmas day, they woke early to open their gifts.

Sister Harriet's favourite memory was of visiting her grandmother who lived in town. She always used to give small gifts to the family.
