Lake Marie, located in Elora, Ontario, Canada, is a quiet and secluded retreat for the AMSSND Sisters to escape the city and relax.
Once a month, our Waterdown LEAD Team drives a group of Sisters who may not wish to drive up on their own. We stay for the day.
We visit with the Sisters already staying there, learning what’s new and exciting for them.
Otherwise, the Sisters are on their own to read, pray, play cards or go for a nice walk in the woods (depending on the mosquitoes; they tend to impair the solace of the place).
Our last trip was in the middle of a heat wave, so the fresh country air and cool-looking lake were greatly appreciated!
We had stopped on the way for fresh baked goods and tomatoes from a Mennonite farm. Kim, who does the cooking, added them to the lunch menu. Anne pitches in by doing the dishes like a well-oiled machine.
After dinner, there is always time for a nap or to sit by the dock and watch the fish swim by.
Sadly, our 3:30 departure time comes fast. We pack up to head back to Waterdown, relaxed and a little tired, but rejuvenated and ready to take on the days ahead until we go again!
