Get W.I.T.H. It - August 10th

Water

Join the Story of Stuff’s live webinar on Monday, August 13, at 3pm (EST) to learn about ways our community can become involved in a plastic pollution brand audit! “This year, we’re not just cleaning up trash – we’re bringing accountability to the companies that create it.”

Immigration

August 9th was the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People. Please read last week’s reflection on Indigenous Peoples , and click here to learn how plans for a border wall threaten to desecrate the land of Native American peoples and to violate their culture and dignity.

Trafficking

Traffickcam, a new app developed by Exchange Initiative, in partnership with the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, “allows anyone with a smartphone to fight sex trafficking when they travel by uploading photos of hotel rooms to a law enforcement database.” Traffickers often post photos of their victims in hotel rooms as advertisements, so by providing law enforcement with images of hotel rooms, we can give them important tools to locate victims and prosecute traffickers. Please consider downloading the free app and using it to participate in the AMSSND commitment to ending human trafficking!

Haiti

Read about a successful intervention against child trafficking and abuse by one of the teen clubs facilitated by our partner, Beyond Borders, as one facet of the campaign to end child slavery in Haiti.
