Twice a year the School Sisters of Notre Dame award grants to organizations working for justice. These groups benefit people, mostly women and children, caught in poverty, human rights abuses, or environmental devastation. $5,000 to enable 7 faculty members to participate in the SSND Mission Awareness Process (MAP) at the Arizona-Mexico border
Caroline House, Inc., Bridgeport, CT
$5,000 to provide for urgent student needs plus teaching materials for their children
Global Partners: Running Waters, Inc., Elm Grove, WI
$5,000 to help bring potable water to 113 families in Chichicastenango, Guatemala
Good Mothers and Mercy Action in Juba, Juba, South Sudan
$5,000 to support a daily meal program for 80 young boys living on the street
Harmony, Hope & Healing, Chicago, IL
$5,000 toward the music program staff salaries
Nation Unsevered, Baltimore, MD
$5,000 to fund awareness campaign materials for Tribal Nation leaders to address Sex-trafficking in and near their reservation lands
Outreach to the Poor, Bridgeport, CT
$500 to enable volunteers to prepare Christmas gifts and meals for 700 families
Sarah’s Place Women’s Resource Center, Sandy Hook, KY
$5,000 to help cover the costs of their Child Develop Center and an adult job training program in medical coding
SisterHouse, Chicago, IL
$5,000 to supplement their technology for job training with computers and updated programs
St. Ann Place, West Palm Beach, FL
$5,000 to help with the costs of utilities and supplies for their Hygiene Program
St. Ann Catholic Church, Baltimore, MD
$5,000 toward operational costs and supplies for their Community Health & Wellness Fair
St. Peter the Apostle School, Philadelphia, PA
$4500 to provide six $750.00 scholarships to families in need, focusing on children being raised by single mothers or grandmothers
Vincent de Paul and Legion of Mary, Juba, South Sudan
$5,000 to supply 50 of the neediest families with basic needs and food including fresh fruits and vegetables twice a month
Yellow Butterfly Project, St. Louis, MO
$5,000 to develop Online platforms to educate K-12 educators and other professionals about Human Trafficking with consultant fees, the purchase of computer software, and technology equipment.
