Leaving Villa Assumpta for a "Good Place"

I scrubbed those floors at Villa Assumpta.

I brought mattresses up.

I watched the chapel being built.

Villa Assumpta was home.

No matter where I lived - and I lived in many other places - I always called Villa Assumpta "home."

Leaving it was very hard.

I am happy at Stella Maris, though. It's almost like I was meant to move here. It is a Mercy facility, and the first nun I ever met was a Mercy Sister!

Sister Basil taught 3rd grade at Holy Family in Columbus, GA (she was originally from Baltimore). She was like my grandmother: gentle, loving, and encouraging to all the children.

That was my first impression of what Sisters were.

It’s interesting that I’m living out the rest of my life in a home built by the Mercy Sisters!

Stella Maris is a good place to be.
