The meal on “Vigil Night" (Christmas Eve) was always festive in Sister Joanne's family home. It included the Polish tradition of sharing a Christmas Wafer with each other.
While sharing the wafer, which was made from flour and water, the family also shared moments from their lives together over the previous year.
During the reflection and sharing , they would apologize to each other for mistakes they had made and hurt feelings they had caused.
The family would also visit their uncle’s house and have turkey with all the cousins.
