With joy and enthusiasm, we announce the appointment of Colleen Kammer as the Atlantic-Midwest Province Director of the Office of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation. Colleen comes to us with a passion for social justice and considerable experience working with religious communities in the pursuit of justice for God’s underserved people.
Colleen has done advocacy work for Weavers of Justice Collaborative in Cincinnati; Network Catholic Lobby; LCWR; and in her own parish, where she has been involved in the Laudato Si' efforts. She has worked with the Marianists and Sisters and Missionaries of the Precious Blood. In her role with the Sisters, she sought avenues of collaboration with organizations working toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusion. In this effort, she formed the Trotwood Ecumenical Group. Her advocacy with the Sisters included racial justice, human trafficking, death penalty, immigration, and ecology, etc.
We extend a warm SSND welcome to Colleen and promise her our support and cooperation as she challenges us to live our commitments to Laudato Si' through our work with addressing climate change, dismantling racism, sustainable development in Haiti, promoting justice for immigrants, and ending human trafficking.
Many thanks to the search committee: Sisters Catherine (Kits) Sarther, Patricia McLaughlin, Eileen Reilly, and Council liaison Mary Fitzgerald, and Associate Mary Gunning. We are grateful for their work in identifying and recommending such an experienced candidate for this position.
