Years ago, I came across a striking billboard that read in bold white text, “I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” This was a bible verse taken from the Gospel of Matthew, the twenty-fifth chapter, verse thirty-five. The word “stranger” was crossed out and the word “refugee” was replaced in red.
