“Humanity still has the ability to work together in building our common home.” – Pope Francis: This quote summarizes the essence of my thoughts from several presentations I attended at the 18th Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII).

The School Sisters of Notre Dame is a registered NGO (non-governmental organization) with the U.N. Department of Public Information since 1993.

SSND also has Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council)  which provides the opportunity to submit statements for consideration by the U.N. Secretary-General and the CSW (Commission on the Status of Women). Past statements have reflected the SSND commitment to ensure that girls have a place at the table and a voice during these deliberations.

Sister Beatriz was born and raised in Mexico where her family lives. As a School Sister of Notre Dame, she has ministered in parishes and diocesan offices in the area of evangelization and catechesis in Mexico and in the U.S. in Arizona, Texas, and Minnesota.

Sister Eileen Reilly, as she concluded her nine-year term said, "I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to serve the congregation and meet so many sisters in so many places. You give me hope for our future when you respond to invitations to observe U.N. days like World Peace Day, when you welcome me into your homes and ministries, and when you and your students participate in U.N. events.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement!"
