Sister Rita White

Sister Rita White - Ministry in South America

From 1968 – 1972, I ministered in La Paz, Bolivia as principal of a school in a very poor rural area. In 1979, I was asked to open a new mission with Sister Martin de Porres Kimpel at Via El Salvador in south Lima, Peru.

Sister Deborah Cerullo - God is Enough for Us

Looking back on my first year in provincial leadership, I am reminded of the reflection I wrote at the end of my novitiate when asked the question, “What do the vows mean to me?” I had studied the sections in "You Are Sent" that spoke of our vowed commitment and was poised to go out into the world to actually live them. What little I knew, but how great was my idealism and commitment!

Sister Mary Ellen Dougherty - Spiritual Director as Learner

Forty years ago a sister in my religious community asked me, "Why is it that people who are always talking about prayer and spiritual matters show no interest in social justice?" I wanted to ask her, just as pointedly, "Why is it that people who are always talking about justice causes show no interest in prayer or spiritual matters?" But I did not. Instead, I became enlisted in one of her causes. This has changed my way of seeing the world and myself in the world. It also influenced the way I view spiritual direction.

Sister Cathy Bonfield - A Chance Encounter

In August 2017, as I was hurrying to get my classroom ready for my forty-ninth year of teaching, I saw a young Hispanic woman cleaning at our school in Sarasota, Florida.
