The 2020 Jubilee Board at Villa Notre Dame, composed by Sr. Justine Nutz, honors our 42 living AM Jubilarians and four who recently said a final YES to God: Clara Hounsell, Irene Scarola, Mary Bann, and Betty Rosser.
All 46 photos, surrounded by a golden cord, are from the AM Pictorial Directory. The words in the middle are:
With deep gratitude for God’s Faithfulness,
we are on mission in the heart of the world,
SSNDs for2890 years.
Love Gives Everything!
Sprays of beautiful peacock feathers flank the design. (Peahens do not have tail feathers).
Each year feathers are shed in fall and grow back in springtime, a resurrection of beauty! These are from Sr. Mary Ann Roderick’s brother David, who raises peacocks as a hobby on his farm in Walkersville, Md.

Mythologies and world religions assign varied symbolism to the peacock. In some European countries, the eye of the feather is thought of as the ”evil eye” and peacocks are avoided. However, in Christianity, the eye is seen as the all-seeing, compassionate Eye of God. What a loving, hopeful symbol for these mysterious times!
