Bishop Kearney: SSND Tradition of Excellence

When Sister Pat Flynn's grandniece, Laila Edwards, helped win the gold for the USA Women's Hockey Team recently, I discovered both she and four of her teammates had attended Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester, NY.

It turns out that its tradition of excellence extends to its ice hockey program!

SSNDs helped found Bishop Kearney in 1962 with the Christian Brothers. 

Though we no longer serve as teachers there, we continue to support Bishop Kearney through scholarships. We also maintain a satellite program of the Notre Dame Learning Center there, under the direction of Sister Evelyn Breslin.

It is a joy to see our legacy continue in academic excellence, and in the way the USA women's team worked together, cared about each other, and shared a great team spirit. Read more!
