By Yvonne DeBruin, Mission Formation Director
Sponsored ministry leaders recently gathered for a formation session as part of the province’s Ministry Formation program.
The session, held Nov.14-15, covered two main topics: Catholic Social Teaching as Mission, and including the Intersectionality with the Call of the 25th General Chapter and Justice, Peace, and the Integrity of Creation (JPIC).
Presenters included JPIC Director Colleen Kammer and me.
Participants brought a beautiful spirit and sincere engagement to the session, which made for a fruitful time together.
Highlighting the international dimension of the SSND mission, we watched and engaged with the recorded webinar on The Joys and Challenges of Mission in South Sudan with Sister Anna Marie Reha, SSND.
The video also allowed us to see how SSNDs live out Catholic Social Teaching and JPIC commitments.
After the session, one participant posed a challenging takeaway on the evaluation form:
It’s not a “new” concept for me, but I sometimes need to be reminded that our faith is more than just personal. It calls all of us to actively “shape” our society in the image of God’s love.
One final note: Now that our Sisters have moved from Villa Assumpta to Stella Maris, future Ministry Formation sessions will be held at external locations. This time we met at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore, MD.
