The Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory 2020 Founders Award

The Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory 2020 Founders Award was presented to the School Sisters of Notre Dame of the Atlantic-Midwest Province on January 25, 2020.  The award was in recognition of their 28 years of service to Madonna Academy from 1960 to 1988 and the influence that the SSND charism continues to have at the merged school. Sisters Therese Dougherty, Sharon Slear and Patricia Murphy, representing the full span of the life of Madonna Academy, accepted the award.

Another recipient was Dianne Mistelske, a retired long-time staff member of Chaminade-Madonna. Judith Muchek, PhD, head of school stated that “This year’s Founders Award recipients have something very profound and somewhat unusual by today’s standards, in common, --a tangible commitment to community.  Through thick-and-thin, in times of great success as well as times of stress, and everything in-between.
Many Madonna Academy alumnae and faculty were present at the celebration and spoke fondly of how the SSNDs embodied the motto of the school: Truth, Beauty and Goodness and instilled it into the students. A Sculpture of The Blessed Mother was presented to the sisters.
