A friendly baseball team rivalry was in full expression recently at Marian Village in Homer Glen, IL, when the Crosstown Classic was played.
Both baseball teams - the Cubs and the White Sox - are from Chicago, but the fans tend to favor either the North Side team (Cubs) or the South Side team (White Sox).
The Classic began with a picnic lunch for fans of both teams. Residents showed their loyalty by wearing either their team's emblem or colors.
Friends showed up, rooting for opposite teams, including my friend Joan Orseske and me!
Each fan was given a bingo card to fill out during the game. It featured baseball terms.
Four winners - including Sister Lucy Giacchetti - received a gift card for a free meal at any of our three dining rooms!
All Chicago is still smiling with pride, though, for our own Pontiff, Pope Leo XIV!
