One of the most exciting moments for the teachers and staff of SSND Educational Center is when our graduates share their success stories with us. Here are two that are near to our hearts.
Amanda found the Center through a friend and was immediately drawn to the support she received here. “I was motivated by the warm environment and the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally,” she told us.
She remembers being encouraged to stay positive; to keep learning even when things got challenging; and to not worry about being perfect.
Thanks to her own hard work, Amanda found that doors began to open for her. Today, she is working as a dental assistant!
Another story comes from Marie, who needed to gain confidence as much as she needed to gain English skills. As we were accompanying her through her learning process, though, she used her new skills to begin a wonderful bakery business that supports her family!
I asked her if she could make the cookies for this year's Harvest fundraiser. She agreed, and then asked me for a favor.
"Of course," I answered. "What can I do for you?" "You can help my son write his resume," she answered.
I was overjoyed. What a wonderful task. He was delightful. He thanked me not only for helping him, but for making a difference to their family by helping his mom!
SSNDEC is a family affair. We are never happier than when we see our graduates and their families thriving!
