HATI

Haitian Flag Day will be celebrated on Friday, May 18. According to the Haitian Embassy, “Each Year on May 18, we celebrate the creation of the Bicolor Blue and Red which came into being on May 18, 1803, in the town of Arcahaie. Haitians everywhere honor the history and heritage that the flag represents, reminding them of their patriotic duty of unity to move the nation forward.”

This is a great opportunity to celebrate and learn about Haitian culture! If you feel up to it, try these recipes for traditional Haitian fare: Griot and Banan Peze
