Hope: The Connecting Cord

By Associates Helene Murtha and Mary Anne O’Donnell

Maryland Associates began their Nov. 8 retreat and Covenanting day with the inspirational words of Dr. Pat Fosarelli: “Endings, Beginnings and Everything In-Between: Hope is the Cord that Connects Them All.”

The morning of reflection, as they prepared to say their “yes” as Associates, encouraged and challenged them to truly explore the concept of hope in their own lives, and how hope shapes/influences their commitment as SSND Associates.

In the afternoon, Sisters, family, and friends gathered in the chapel, while still other Sisters livestreamed from Stella Maris, to witness the First Covenanting of our 7 new Associates and the Recovenanting of 26 Associates.

This was also a special year for 4 Associates who celebrated a milestone anniversary: Lindsay Thompson and Peggy Russell - 35 years; Debra Franklin - 20 years; and Diane MacKenzie - 10 years.

Associate Peggy Russell shared a beautiful reflection on her experiences as an Associate as part of our prayer service.

The day of celebration concluded with everyone enjoying a dessert reception hosted by Associate Jeanette Partlow.
