The Northeast Associates and Companion Sisters met on May 24, 2025 for their bimonthly meeting. It was a well-attended, lively meeting with many things happening!
It began with a beautiful prayer service led by Associate Carol Jakab which was based on Our Lady Undoer of Knots, a popular Marian devotion, particularly in recent years thanks to the promotion by Pope Francis.
After prayer there was a spirit-filled presentation by Sisters John Vianney Zullo and Maria Iannuccillo regarding their recent time in Rome, which included reflections on the death of Pope Francis and the Election of Pope Leo. Listening to them was inspiring. We could truly feel the excitement and range of emotions they experienced during their time in Rome.
Following a delicious lunch prepared by Associate Jean Fredericks, the group said a fond farewell to Associate Helen Martinez, who will be relocating to Puerto Rico. Of course, the farewell included the customary SSND sung blessing: "May the blessing of the Lord be upon you...."
After lunch, Associates, companion Sisters and other Sisters at 3030 Park came together for the "Good News Rules" presentation. Members of the Haiti Collaboration Committee (Sisters Kay O'Connell, Leonora Tucker, Bernie Ballasty, and Associate Kathy Sylvester) shared the good things happening in Haiti as a result of the SSND/Beyond Borders partnership.
