In the Church, Ordinary Time highlights Jesus' ministry of healing and teaching and speaking the truth.
I felt like I received those gifts on retreat this year. I was in the trees, just being. I watched dragonflies and fish, hummingbirds and herons. I watched how the crops and flowers perked up in rain.
I realized how sacred nature is. No wonder Jesus went into nature to pray.
I came back more sensitive to what the Gospels and Laudato Si' say.
Ordinary Time is not ordinary at all.
It gives us time to grow in a deeper way. It gives us more time to think.
It gives us time.
We've made time our enemy, but summer's Ordinary Time teaches us otherwise. Time is our friend.
Back from my holiday, I experience time differently. It is at my service, not the opposite.
It is graced.
