Stella Maris officially became "home" for many newly arrived Sisters on Nov. 7 during a Blessing of the Floor and Bedrooms event hosted by leadership teams from Stella Maris and Mercy Health System.
The program took place in the community room following lunch.
Stella Maris Executive Director Crystal Hickey and Trustees Chair Sister Helen Amos, RSM welcomed the Sisters and took turns introducing the staff.
Father Kenneth Gaddy, CSsR spoke about his own feelings when he moved to Stella Maris with his fellow retired priests.
“This is place of life. When you come here, you might have some misgivings like I did, but I assure you. This is a place to live joyfully!”
After the remarks, Sisters and guests enjoyed a wonderful buffet with mini crab cakes, cheesecake, and crudites.
The table was so full of food, it was like an early Thanksgiving meal!
Father Gaddy then began the blessing of the rooms. Each bedroom, chapel, and community room received a special blessing, and the floor really started to feel like home!
